Hancock Central School is a rural public school for grades Pre-K-6 surrounded by natural beauty. The school is central to the community, and parents are actively involved in many aspects of the school. The community is also involved in much that we do, including bottle drives to fund special school programs and the Thanksgiving meal the school prepares and serves to the elderly population of Hancock. The student body is made up of approximately 60 students.

* We offer a curriculum that is aligned with the Common Core Standards that were adopted by the State of Massachusetts.
* After-school care is available until 5:00pm each day.
* There is an annual art show and an all-school musical in the spring.
* Our students have access to laptop computers and wireless Internet.
* We have a Student Council, which is composed of two elected students from each classroom. The student government forum allows students to develop ideas to foster community, enrichment, and fun.
* The entire staff discusses every student during professional development days. During this “child study,” we decide on goals for each student and work together to help facilitate learning for all of our students.
* We offer several extra-curricular activities such as: Girls on the Run, Battle of the Books, Lego Robotics, dance, and drama.
* HOPE (our parent group) is very active . They support and/or organize the Halloween Trunk or Treat celebration, the Thanksgiving dinner, community holiday gift baskets, school calendars, field trips, cultural enrichment opportunities, community events, and our graduation celebration. They are an important group at our school, and anyone is welcome to join in and participate. Meetings are generally the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00. The group’s major fundraiser is our bottle drives. Thanks to all who participate and help with these after school events.
